Shillingstone Old Ox Community Group

On 3rd October 2022, the owner of the Old Ox Inn informed Dorset Council of their intention to put the pub up for sale.

The Parish Council had been successful in nominating the Old Ox Inn and Land Adjoining as Assets of Community Value (ACV). However, the owner lodged an appeal and the adjudicator has removed the Pub Garden & Paddock from the ACV.

Who’s involved in trying to save the Old Ox?

Working with the Parish Council, a new group called “Shillingstone Old Ox Community Group” has been established within the community and are working to raise funds and hopefully lead to a successful purchase of the Old Ox Inn from the owner.

Parish Councillors Ian Suter, Kay Ridout, Richard White and Penny Acton are active on the committee alongside other residents to work together for a successful bid.

Consultation

The committee will provide regular updates through the PC website, FaceBook, E-Mails and via newsletters. The community we will consult will be all the residents of the trading area of the future pub, the pub’s future customers!

How to stay informed

Information and updates will be made available on the Parish Council website (link below) or via the Village FaceBook groups. If you would like more information please contact one of the councilors involved or e-mail shillingstone.assist@gmail.com, and for regular updates please tick the ‘Add To Mailing List’ option when filling in your details on the reverse.

How to get involved

If you would like to help in any way within the community group, please contact Ian Suter or Kay Ridout or e-mail above. If you have a specific skill or experience that you would like to offer please do let us know, and if not just tell us you would like to help, and we will provide a list of activities and roles that you could get involved with.
